About ConvertSmartly

ConvertSmartly started from a pile of paper. In early 2023, our founder inherited a family business that came with two filing cabinets full of paper documents — contracts, invoices, receipts, handwritten notes, and correspondence going back fifteen years. Digitizing them meant either retyping everything manually or using OCR software that required installation, licensing, and a learning curve he did not have time for.

He built a browser-based OCR tool that let him photograph documents with his phone and extract the text immediately through a web interface. The Text-to-Speech converter came next, born from his habit of proofreading by listening — hearing text read aloud catches errors and awkward phrasing that visual reading misses. The Image Resizer was added when he needed to prepare product photos for the business website in seven different sizes for different pages and social platforms.

ConvertSmartly brings together tools that would normally require three or four separate applications — an OCR program, an audio converter, an image editor, and a file format converter. By combining them in one browser-based toolkit, we eliminate the need to install, learn, and maintain multiple desktop applications. How We Handle Your Files

File conversion tools frequently handle sensitive documents — contracts, financial records, personal photos, medical reports. We take this responsibility seriously. For tools that can process locally (image resizing, compression, format conversion), all processing happens in your browser and your files never leave your device. For tools that require server-side processing power (OCR text extraction), files are encrypted during transfer, processed in isolated containers with no persistent storage, and deleted within one hour of completion. We do not read, analyze, or retain your files for any purpose.

The Team

ConvertSmartly is maintained by a small team of three — a developer, a designer, and a product manager — all based in India. We built this toolkit to solve our own file conversion challenges and continue to use it daily in our professional work. New tools are added based on real user requests and our own workflow needs.
